Collaborative funds
We all know that “teamwork makes the dream work”, but did you know that giving works that way too? The Gift Trust’s collaborative funds give you the opportunity to bring your ‘team’ together, to support the causes you care about most.
Our unique, public-facing, collaborative funds give your community the opportunity to make one-off or regular gifts to a collection of charities collated by you.
How it works
Simply open a Gift Account, and tell us on the application form that you’d like it to be a collaborative fund. Once we’ve assessed your application, we’ll send you a link to your public donation page, which you can distribute to your community. If you also want a custom branded landing page, that tells the story of your fund, let us know when you apply and one of our team will get in touch.
If you want to specify charities that your community can choose between, tell us what they are when you apply. If you’re not sure, one of our expert philanthropic advisers can help you find charities that are right for you.
As the Gift Account holder, you choose what grants to make from your collaborative fund. Simply log in to My Gift Account, make a gift request for one or more charities, and we’ll handle the rest.
Case study: High Impact Athletes
High Impact Athletes was created by two New Zealand Olympians, Marcus Daniell and Hugo Inglis, and has built a global community of athletes behind a mission to improve global health, alleviate poverty and climate change, and support animal welfare. Donors can choose from a range of vetted charities, or support HIA’s pooled Maximum Good Portfolio.
HIA has chosen to build its own website in addition to their collaborative fund page, offering more information about their donors and their work, and broadening their reach.
Case study: Carbon Critical Net Zero Fund
The Carbon Critical team launched their Net Zero Fund in 2020 to help donors support global organisations that are making a massive impact towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and avoiding a future devastated by climate change.
Promoting the Fund through their professional networks as climate activists and problem-solvers, the Carbon Critical team have built a growing group of recurring donors. They’ve chosen a unique collection of organisations to support, including local organisations like Lawyers for Climate Action NZ and Generation Zero, and international charities like Clean Air Task Force.
Additional set-up fees apply for collaborative funds and custom branded landing pages.
