Cheryl and Yvonne from The Gift Trust spent two exciting days in Dunedin last November, meeting with a range of stakeholders around the city and hosting several of our local donors and some special guests at an evening event.
Between obsessing over the architecture, they caught up with local funders, community leaders, advisors, law firms and local government funders. With our proactive approach to funding, being connected is key! Our Dunedin network grew on the trip and we now have a whole lot of new people to bounce ideas past in the city.
On the evening of November 14th we gathered with a group of interested donors and friends at Pequeno Lounge Bar for an evening of storytelling and sharing ideas. Two of our donors told their inspiring story of giving and the group discussed the finer details of philanthropy. Some of our Dunedin donors even decided to plan regular catch ups together, gathering to talk about their plans for giving.
We over-catered the event a little, but luckily one of the team from Mātāwai Associates helped us take our leftovers to the nearby night shelter, which fitted in with the event’s theme of generosity very well.
We left the city reluctantly, having stopped to say goodbye to John, the resident Shar-pei at Maggies Cafe on Stuart Street. We’re now counting down the days until our next trip. Thank you, Dunedin!
