The Gift Trust is supporting Rocket Lab to run a scholarship for a student in science or engineering yearly. The scholarship recipient for 2017 has been announced.

The Gift Trust are delighted to announce that Rocket Lab, the cutting-edge aerospace company with a launch site in Māhia, have opened a Gift Account with us to administer their Rocket Lab Scholarship. This scholarship was founded to encourage students from the Māhia peninsula and the greater Wairoa region in the Hawkes Bay to pursue university studies in science, technology, mathematics and engineering. The scholarship covers up to $20,000 of tertiary education fees for up to four years of study and also includes hands-on mentoring from Rocket Lab.

In December 2017 Rocket Lab announced that the winner of its inaugural scholarship was Arianna Ormond, a Year 13 student from Wairoa College. Arianna will be studying towards a Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Science at Waikato University.
