Today is #GivingTuesday, a global movement celebrating giving to the charitable sector, whether that’s through financial donations, volunteering or donating goods. The movement was started in America but is now taking off across the world including here in Aotearoa New Zealand. It was started to kick off the holiday season, when many people focus on their end-of-year giving and to counteract the rise of consumerist days like Black Friday.
At The Gift Trust we’re joining in the movement to celebrate giving of all kinds. We’re encouraging our donors, friends and partners to consider their end of year giving at this time. It’s a good time to start being proactive about your giving, if you’re not already, rather than simply responding to the many Christmas and holiday season charitable requests you might get.
Its tempting to simply say “yes” to everyone at this time as there are so many deserving causes. But if you really want to make a difference with your giving, then having a proactive plan and thinking carefully about your values will help you achieve more. If you donate through The Gift Trust we can help you craft a plan tailored to your needs.
If you want to give more effectively, take a look at this blog we wrote about how to plan your giving in line with your values.
